Being mentally weak is just a state of being, meaning it can change if you are willing to do what it takes to become mentally strong. Being mentally weak is a temporary state that can be overcome with time and effort through deliberate practice and positive habits.
A mentally weak person can absolutely become a mentally strong person. Our mind is just like a muscle, the harder we train it, the stronger it becomes. Becoming mentally strong isn't an overnight process, but it's a journey that will take time and dedication. I remember watching an interview of Piers Morgan with Chris Williamson, Piers asked Chris this question "Mental strength or physical strength?" I like the response of Chris Williamson because it is the absolute truth, he said " You can't really change the mind with just the mind. You have to change it with the Body first." So to become mentally strong, you have to become physically strong first, and then you can become mentally strong.
In the following lines, I will explain the correlation between physical and mental strength and give you tips on how to train your mind to become stronger.
How Being Physically Strong Will Make You Mentally Strong
The benefits of being physically strong are huge, and one of them is that it will make you mentally stronger. A lot of people who have been mentally strong in this world were physically strong also. For example in The NBA, Kobe Bryant was a mentally strong person, and he was a person who was spending a lot of time in the gym to master his craft. He was training over, and over even when other players were going to parties, and enjoying their lives. In Football or Soccer, Ronaldo is a player, who spends a lot of time trying to become better, and better. He trains a lot, and that is why he was a person that fans were counting on every Champions League to score. The retired Marine David Goggins is a person who keeps on training over, and over even after he retired, and he is always challenging himself with more physical activity. So becoming physically strong will help you build mental toughness, and there is nothing more than physical activity to help you become mentally stronger.
Here are how physical activity will make us mentally stronger :
It Will Help Us Become Resilient: Physical training often involves pushing your limitations and overcoming challenges. Your mind will always try to tell you, that you are tired or give you all the best reasons to stop working out, even when you are not tired. Working out will help you to challenge yourselves, and your emotions, which will result in greater mental resilience, making you better equipped to handle difficulties in other areas of life.
It Will Help Us Improved Our Self-Esteem: As we get stronger, we will feel more confident in our body's capabilities, because we know what we are capable of doing. This can boost our overall self-esteem, which is a key component of mental strength
It Will Make Us Discipline: Sticking to a workout routine requires discipline, meaning we are not doing things based on how we feel. This pushes us to think more rationally, and these skills are transferable to other areas of life, helping us to stay focused when facing mental challenges.
Tips on How To Train Your Mind to Become Stronger
There are many tips on how we can train our minds to become mentally stronger.
1. Learn To Silence The Outside Voice: To become mentally strong, it is crucial that we learn to silence the outside noise and listen to ourselves first. We need to identify our true desires and understand the reasons behind them. This process helps us gain a sense of direction, clarity about our goals, and a deeper understanding of our purpose in life.
2. Step Outside of Our Comfort Zone: We can train our minds by doing tasks that seem difficult. This could involve learning a new skill, taking on a challenging project, or goal, or simply trying a different approach to resolve a problem. Stepping outside of our comfort zone forces our brains to adapt and grow, and this will help us build mental resilience.
3. Become a Good Reader: To become mentally strong, it's important to learn from those who are already mentally strong. By learning from their experiences, we can save time and avoid making mistakes. This can help build and grow our self-motivation and serve as a source of inspiration.
